Sakura PDF Reader

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 30 July 2026

Sakura PDF Reader & Docs (package com.webstei.sakurareader) is made by webstei. This policy explains exactly what the app does and does not do with your information.

The short version: your documents never leave your phone. We do not have a server, an account system, or any way to see your files. The only information that leaves the app is what Google's advertising service needs to show a banner.

Your documents

Sakura reads documents that are already on your device so it can display them. All reading, converting and editing happens on the phone itself.

Temporary copies are sometimes written to the app's private cache folder so a document can be displayed or converted. These stay on your device and you can remove them at any time with Settings → Clear cache.

Folder access

To list your documents, Sakura asks you to choose a folder using Android's own folder picker. We only ever see the folders you pick, and you can remove any of them in Settings → Scanned folders.

Sakura does not request the "All files access" (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) permission, and it cannot draw over other apps.

Advertising

Sakura is free and is funded by a single banner shown on the file list screens. There are no ads while you are reading a document, no full-screen ads, and no ads outside the app.

Ads are provided by Google AdMob. To serve them, the Google Mobile Ads SDK collects and shares information including your device's advertising ID, approximate location derived from your IP address, and general device information. This is handled by Google, not by us, and we never receive your documents or personal details from it.

In regions that require it, such as the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom, Sakura shows a consent form before any ad is requested. You can change your choice later with Settings → Privacy options. If you decline personalised ads, the app continues to work exactly as before.

You can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in your Android settings, under Settings → Google → Ads.

Sakura is a general-purpose document reader and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because we hold no personal data on any server, there is nothing for us to look up, export or delete on your behalf. Everything the app stores lives on your phone and is under your control. See Data Deletion for how to remove it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with an updated date. Material changes will also be described in the app's release notes on Google Play.
